NASSCO’s repair operations are organized to service several projects at the same time. Because of the size of the shipyard and the flexibility of the company’s workforce, scheduling can accommodate virtually any project. Repair teams work two shifts a day, with management on duty 24 hours a day. If necessary, NASSCO can temporarily augment its repair workforce with skilled employees from its new construction workforce to meet tight deadlines.
Communications within the yard are instantaneous, with customer representatives, management, scheduling and repair crews in close touch at all times during the repair process. Decisions are made on the spot, to assure continuing progress and on-time completion of every repair.
