Since 2002 NASSCO has joined in the celebration of National Pollution Prevention Week (NP2W).
NASSCO is a member of the San Diego and Imperial Counties Pollution Prevention Committee and the San Diego Area Green Businesses Steering Committee. NASSCO often hosts committee meetings that include a tour of the shipyard.
These joint meetings serve as an open forum where ideas about pollution prevention are discussed between various environmental organizations and agencies that include the County of San Diego Air Pollution Control District, the County of San Diego Department of Environmental Health, the Department of Toxic Substances Control from California EPA, and the Cities of Chula Vista and Poway.
