SAN DIEGO – On Friday, December 18, shipbuilders from General Dynamics NASSCO, and other members of the Port of San Diego Ship Repair Association, donated more than 1,000 toys to the Salvation Army in San Diego and another 500 to the Barrio Station, located in Barrio Logan. The toys will be used as part of both organization’s annual holiday programs benefitting children and families in need during the holidays. Last week, the Salvation Army put out a call for an additional 10,000 toys to be donated by this week in time for their annual distribution. On Saturday, December 19, NASSCO and other members of the Ship Repair Association will deliver another several hundred toys to another local, non-profit serving the Barrio Logan area, the Good Neighbor Project.
The Port of San Diego Ship Repair Association’s member companies are committed to giving back to the Barrio Logan and Greater San Diego communities. The annual toy drive is just one way the Association gives back to the communities in which their members serve, bettering the lives of local youth and their families. For more than 25 years, the Association has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to neighborhood organizations and special events.
