General Dynamics NASSCO welcomed the USS Higgins (DDG 76) into the dry dock on August 29, 2018, marking the 200th dry docking at NASSCO since 1983.

NASSCO’s robust ship repair operation spans both coasts and is primarily conducted in four strategic U.S. ports: Bremerton, Washington; Mayport, Florida; Norfolk, Virginia; and San Diego, California. Capabilities include advanced ship repair, conversion, and maintenance for both commercial and national defense assets. The dry dock in San Diego has been home to a wide variety of ships, from big deck Amphibs, both LCS class ships, two FFGs at the same time, DDGs like the USS Higgins, cruisers, commercial and private vessels.

The USS Higgins and her crew will remain at NASSCO San Diego for the vessel’s Extended Dry-docking Selected Restricted Availability. A shipyard ceremony recognized the successful maintenance and repair work performed here over the last three decades.
